This month, as part of our Product of the Month series, weâre showing off our Sea Moss Exfoliator. We are focusing on the process and benefits of exfoliating, as well as diving into our actual product (how to use + all of our hacks!). And if you didnât already know, ALL online orders this month will receive samples of our Sea Moss Exfoliator.
For todayâs blog post, weâre shining the spotlight on our Sea Moss Exfoliator and its amazing ingredients! We carefully selected only three natural, organic ingredients for this product â and all with good reason! The ingredients in our exfoliator are: Organic Sea Moss, Organic Grapeseed Flour, and Organic Geranium Oil.Â
Below, letâs dive into the benefits of each one, and find out what role they play in our exfoliator.
Â
Ingredient 1: Irish AKA Sea MossÂ
What nutrients does sea moss contain and why is it beneficial for our skin?Â
Irish moss is a red algae that grows among the shallow, rocky Atlantic coasts of Europe and North America. Irish moss contains 15 of the 18 essential elements that make up the human body! In case you didnât notice â thatâs a LOT of nutrients. This includes, but is not limited to, calcium, sulfur, magnesium, potassium, vitamin A and vitamin K.
Irish mossâ high mineral content leaves the skin nourished and smooth after use. Vitamin K helps keep the skinâs elasticity intact while helping reduce wrinkles and dark circles. Furthermore, vitamins A, B, C, and D nourish and hydrate the skin while enhancing the skinâs natural moisture barrier, blocking out harmful environmental elements!
Â
What makes our sea moss a unique exfoliating ingredient?Â
On top of its numerous skin benefits, Irish moss makes a fantastic ingredient in our line due to its long shelf life and ability to dissolve in water! When this powder reacts with a mild protein (hello, grape seed flour!), it has the ability to form a thick gel when introduced to water. While it becomes a gel, the sea mossâ fine particles remain in tact â which then act as our physical exfoliator. As a result, youâre able to exfoliate your skin while massaging in ingredients that help keep skin elastic and moisturized at the same time.
Â
Ingredient 2: Grape Seed FlourÂ
What nutrients does it contain?Â
Turns out you can make much more than wine with grapes! Grape seed flour is a very beneficial and effective skincare ingredient. It is made from the skin and seed waste of grapes that are often tossed out while making wine. This ingredient is high in antioxidants, magnesium, calcium, healthy fats, and protein, among other nutrients and minerals.
Grape seed flour is full of oligometric proanthocyanidins (OPCs). These OPCs are made up of antioxidants bioflavanoids and polyphenols. Bioflavanoids are an antioxidant that gives fruits and vegetables their bright colors, while polyphenols are super antioxidants found in grapes, red wine, green tea, and other plants. These antioxidants are the some of the most beneficial for your skin!
Â
Why are OPCs beneficial for our skin?
These OPCs can help protect skin from sun damage, which is often responsible for wrinkles, scarring, hyperpigmentation, and early aging! Furthermore, these antioxidants also encourage collage production and restoration, which helps to protect and improve the skinâs appearance while giving you that âglow.â
Â
What function does it provide in our exfoliator?Â
This ingredient plays an important role in our Sea Moss Exfoliator. It not only is full of compounds that provide significant benefits to the skin, but it also helps our exfoliator transform into that thick gel once mixed with water!
Â
Ingredient 3: Geranium Oil
What function does this oil provide in our exfoliator?
Besides smelling AMAZING, the addition of geranium oil in our Sea Moss Exfoliator adds that final touch of skin-perfecting power. Geranium oil is astringent, meaning that it can help tighten the skin, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Furthermore, its antiseptic properties can help clear up wounds (aka, acne, scarring, and other blemishes) while cleansing the skin. It also helps to reduce inflammation, and its subtly floral scent has been shown to boost mood! Hereâs to happy cleansing!
